Hey Yo, I’m Sara Allen ~ the artist behind Laughing Lupin Studios.

I make colorful, botanical art for people who’ve lived through a few plot twists and decided joy deserves a second chance.

I live in Anchorage, Alaska, where I’m endlessly distracted by the little things happening inside the big beautiful landscape. The light catching a leaf, a bee buried in a bloom, frost sparkling on a branch, or one ridiculous flower demanding attention while an entire mountain range carries on behind it. Midnight teals, moss greens, fireweed pinks, glacial blues and fleeting alpenglow all find their way into my work, usually with a few colors nature may or may not have authorized.

I love texture, layers, shimmer, scribbles, and things that catch the light. Life has taught me that darkness and joy can exist in the same damn picture, and my work tends to make the light shine brighter. Laughing Lupin Studios is for people who take their healing seriously but not themselves. People who still stop for flowers, notice weird little beautiful things, and know the world can be hard and astonishing at exactly the same time.

My originals, prints, and small-batch paper goods have found homes throughout Alaska and beyond.
